So here is my first reader interview. Thanks to Bosmama for being my first guniea pig interviwee! If you fancy being interviewed, drop me an email contact@samanthaholt.org.uk
What is your name and where do you come from?
Bosmama, from the UK originally but I live in Canada
What is your favourite genre/s to read? Historical Fiction, Autobiographies or anything that comes through my online book club!
What is it about that genre that you love?
An insight into another time and place, even if the historical novels are not entirely accurate (we all know documented history isn’t entirely accurate) I just love thinking about past ages and the differences with the modern times.
What are you reading now and are you enjoying it?
Room, Emma Donoghue, yes I am gripped!
Where is your favourite place to read?
On the sofa at home
What makes you fall in love with a book?
Oooh, tough question, it really could be anything, from the use of grammar which is why I love Margaret Atwood and the book I am currently reading, to powerful characters, to just a great and intriguing storyline. There are so many reasons a book can move me.
What sort of characters appeal to you most?
Women who are strong and powerful or women who are struggling but who come out on top
Who are your favourite authors?
Margaret Atwood, Alice Walker, Anita Diamant, Cormac McCarthy
Do you think ebooks will ever completely replace printed books ?
Not in the near future. Perhaps further down the line if we agree that all this technology is safe and radiation free (for someone who sits at a computer all day, I’m still dubious)
Do you think books transfer into movies well? What is your favourite and/or least favourite transfer?
No, I don’t think they do usually. I like the transfers that can stand on their own as movies, for instance I though The Help was a good movie and a good book but not a great transfer, same with The Beach. I thought The Road was a really good transfer, the best.
